Happy Halloween!
What a fun holiday! Brooke not only got to go trick or treating, but also got to attend a costume party at Gymboree! For not understanding what Halloween is, Brooke had a blast, we can't wait for next year!

Our little monkey!

Such a cute monkey!

Bobbing for apples!

Brooke working on her first craft

I'm a silly monkey!

Reading a Halloween book with Miss Taylor

That was a yummy cookie!

Superman even came to the party!

Bubble Time!

Brooke and her big sister Ashley

She learned to run just in time to trick-or-treat!

Perfect day to try a lolypop!

Checking out all her loot, not bad for only going to a few houses!

11 Months Old!
One more month and our baby turns 1!
I tried to do our monthly photo shoot, but as you will see, Brooke had ants in her pants and wouldn't sit still. This is the one and only picture I was able to capture in her chair!

You want ME to sit still?!

I was able to get her to sit still with a book!
Still photos seem to be a thing of the past, she is on the loose! So here is a short video of what I went through trying to take a picture!
Quick recap of the month:
*** Brooke has not only mastered walking, but she RUNS! There is no doubt, she loves her new found freedom. She will walk anywhere and everywhere she can, while stopping along the way to see what she can get into.
*** Crawling has become a thing of the past. Now that she can get up without pulling up on anything, she walks wherever she needs to go.
*** Brooke also loves the telephone, she loves to hold it to her ear and say "hi"! I'm not sure she realizes that it actually needs to be a phone, because she will hold just about anything she can to her ear and say "hi".
*** Brooke is finally starting to enjoy reading. We get alot of "Oooooo" and "wow" while reading to her. Reading is about the only time, she isn't walking around.
*** Brooke likes to play with her toys. She likes to demolish everything... I can't tell you how many times a day I pick up after her! She is getting very good at toys where you put the block through a hole or drop a ball down a chute.
*** Bedtime has become a breeze! We followed her doctors suggestion and let her "cry it out" a few nights. That was heartbreaking, but SO worth it! Now, we take a bath, read a few books, drink a bottle and go to bed. No alligator wrestling, no tears, just a hug and a kiss good night! She still doesn't like the idea of napping, but she will go down at least once a day for a 1-2 hour nap.
*** Brooke is still a great eater! She now weighs 29 pounds and is wearing 2T clothing and size 5 diapers.
*** Miss Brooke's vocabulary is expanding, she now says... mama, dada, baba, lala, MoMo (Elmo), wow, Ooooo, no, bye-bye, hi, meow, dog and ball.
*** Brooke is very a very happy and adventureous little girl who keeps me on my toes ALL the time, but I wouldn't want her any other way!

It's Official...
Brooke is a walker!!!
Since last Wednesday when she started walking with her walker, Brooke has gotten braver and braver. It started with letting go of what she was holding onto and taking 1 or 2 steps. The next day, it was 2 or 3 steps and transferring from one item to another. By Sunday, she had walked 5 or 6 feet. As of today, she has walked up to 20 feet with no assistance!
The only thing she has left to figure out is, how to get up off the floor without pulling up on something. Otherwise, walking is definitely her preferred method of transportation! Way to go Brooke, we are all so proud of you!

She's REALLY mobile!
We've been trying to get Brooke to use her walker for a few weeks now, with no success. Finally, on Wednesday, October 5th, Brooke decided she was ready to walk! The video is terrible, but I had NO idea she was going to come at me as fast as she did! LOL
A few more short videos of Brooke using her walker.

September Photo Favorites

10 Months Old!
2 more months and our little baby will be turning one... so sad, but yet so exciting!
How big is Brooke?

Soooo Big!

All done!
Quick recap of the month:
Another month brings more "firsts" for Miss Brooke!
*** Brooke won her first photo contest! She won $100 gift card to Learning Express (a local toy store) for being the cutest baby!
*** She now crawls... FAST! She is also strategic about her crawling... when on carpet, she crawls normal, but when on tile, she "walks" on all fours, without touching her knees. Smart little girl!
*** Pulling herself up is becoming effortless for her... she will have a toy in one hand and use her other hand to pull herself up. She loves to do laps around the coffee table, it's amazing how fast she is now! She will also let go of the coffee table and reach for the couch to walk along that.
*** She is starting to get brave and letting go of things to stand on her own. I've clocked her standing unassisted for as long as 30 seconds.
*** On October 1st (2 days after turning 10 months old), she took her first steps!!! If I am within a few feet of where she is standing, she will let go and walk to me. Scary, but exciting!
*** Brooke has learned some new "tricks". When asked, "how big is Brooke?", she will raise her arms up above her head. As soon as you start to sing Twinkle, Twinkle, she will open and close her little hands, so cute! She is learning to wave bye-bye and will also play pee-a-boo by covering her eyes. She also loves to clap when she feels like she has accomplished something (even falling down)!
*** Bedtime is becoming like naptime... impossible! Ever since she has become mobile, she fights bedtime like crazy. Naps are still few and far between, but occasionally I will get lucky and she will go down for an hour or two. Thankfully once asleep, she will sleep for 10 hours or so. Changing diapers and dressing her has also become difficult since she has become mobile, the little monkey can't stand sitting still.
*** Brooke still LOVES to eat and still loves all her fruits and veggies! She loves to feed herself things that are dry... like cereal, crackers, etc... Anything that isn't dry, we have to feed to her, but so far she will still eat everything.
*** Brooke now weighs 28 pounds and is wearing 18-24 (and some 2t) clothing and size 5 diapers.
*** Miss Brooke's favorite word of the month is "no no no!" She is constantly babbling and singing! It is very rare that there is silence when Brooke is awake. Her newest word is "me-wow" when she sees my parents cat Tony.
*** Brooke goes to a "gym" class at Gymboree (a little gym for kids 6 months to 5 years). She graduated from Level 2 to Level 3, one month ahead of schedule. Level 3 is for 10-16 months and Brooke was hanging with all of the kids in Level 3 at 9 months old. Go Brooke!
*** Brooke is an extremely happy baby, except for naptime and bedtime. She brings such joy to all of us!
