On Christmas Eve we all went to Nana's house to celebrate Christmas.
Brooke on Christmas Eve at Nana's house
Checking out her presents
Opening presents with her big sisters
After getting home late, Brooke still woke up at 8am as cheerful as could be. I took her downstairs to see what Santa had left...
A Princess Car!
A mailbox that sings and counts!
Reading a book from her stocking
What's in here?
A Lego table and Duplos
Looking up to see if there is anything left
Brooke must have been a good girl this year, because Santa sure was good to her! Brooke got to play with her toys for a little bit before it was time to get ready to go to Auntie Jean's house to celebrate Christmas.
Not long after arriving at Auntie Jean's house, we had a visitor...
Santa Claus!
Brooke getting her present from Santa
Santa and all the kids
Ashley & Brooke stopping for a quick picture, before opening all of their loot
Even with all kinds of presents to open, Brooke is still running!
Opening her "baby" from Grammy
Even tho Brooke doesn't really "get" Christmas, she had a GREAT day! I can't wait to see what she thinks of everything next year!
Auntie Jean took me & Brooke to have breakfast with Santa at the club. Last year, Brooke was only 13 days old when she met Santa for the first time. It was fun to see her enjoy the festivities this year!
Sitting with the big kids, listening to "The Night Before Christmas"
Our little baby is now officially a toddler! It's so hard to believe a year has already passed! Where did time go? It's simply amazing how fast our little baby has grown up, it's so sad, but yet so exciting!
Thankfully this will be the last of our "monthly photo shoots", as it has become nearly impossible!
Quick mom, I'm getting down
One more quick smile
I don't want to wear this hat!
I'll play with it tho!
Quick recap of the month:
*** Brooke did GREAT at her 12 month check-up. She weighed in at 29 pounds, is 32 inches long and her head measured 59 cm, she is off the charts for everything! Since she has become really mobile (the past 3 months)... she has gained no weight and grown 3 inches! The doctor is thrilled with Brooke's progress both physically and mentally.
*** Brooke is starting to become a climber. She will move her diaper wipe box, a book or whatever she can find to use as a step stool. We have to be VERY careful what we leave on tables now, since she can virtually find a way to reach everything now!
*** Brooke is into EVERYTHING! She is really becoming aware of the big world around her and is constantly exploring to learn about everything.
*** Bedtime has continued to be a breeze! Unfortunately, she still doesn't like the idea of napping. Occassionally we get lucky and get a 1-2 hour nap out of her, but there is no consistancy. Thankfully she still sleeps in the car, so she typically gets a couple of "catnaps" a day.
*** Brooke is still a great eater! Baby food is a thing of the past, for the most part, she now eats whatever we are eating. She LOVES Cheetohs, as soon as she sees the bag, she points and says "Chi Chi".
*** Brooke now has 9 teeth... 4 on top, 4 on the bottom and 1 molar. The poor thing has 3 more molars breaking through.
*** Miss Brooke is really becoming a social butterfly. Her vocabulary is continuing to expand and consists of about 20 understandable words. She is constantly tying to communicate with us, sometimes we understand and more times than not, we don't. My personal favorite, when Brooke is asked how old she is, she very confidently says, "two"!
*** Brooke is great about playing with all of her toys! I wouldn't say she has a favorite toy, but a favorite activity. She LOVES to empty everything...
*** What will Brooke do next? We can't wait to find out!
Unfortunately, Brooke woke up feeling a little under the weather for her birthday. I'm not sure if it was a tummy ache or teeth coming through, but she was much fussier than usual. Luckily, as the day progressed, she was back to her cheerful silly self!
Brooke got to celebrate her first Thanksgiving twice this year. On Thanksgiving day, we went to Nana's house for dinner and to celebrate Brooke's first birthday. On Friday, we went to Auntie Jeans house. Brooke loved all of the food, there wasn't anything she didn't like!
On Sunday, November 20th, our family got together to celebrate Brooke's 1st birthday, as well as her big sisters half birthdays. All 3 girls had a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate and for all the great gifts!
The birthday girl!
The table all set and ready, but missing something...
