22 Weeks and Counting

What seems to be the never-ending pregnancy has finally surpassed the 1/2 way mark. I went to the doctor earlier this week for my monthly visit. Yet again, another quick and easy appointment.

This was the first time the baby was sleeping during the check. I actually got to hear a strong heartbeat and not just a bunch of swishing and swooshing around. The doctor asked me if I have felt movement yet (which is typically between 18-22 weeks) - which honestly, I don't think I have. The doctor looked at my ultrasound records to see the location of my placenta, which is in front, which explains why I haven't felt anything yet. She explained that it is normal and it's like having a pillow between the baby and my stomach. I am anxious to feel the kicks, however, I will continue to enjoy my full nights sleep.

I still feel great, I'm keeping busy and I'm golfing as much as I can and I'm loving every minute of the summer. The timing has been great, by the time I will be big and miserable, summer will be over and I will have a few months left of crunch time to get everything ready.

The baby bump is there for sure now, however, at this point, I don't look pregnant, I look fat!!! I'm sure it will only be a matter of weeks now before my normal clothes don't fit anymore.

19 week Ultrasound

The day I've been waiting for finally came. This morning Sandy (my mother-in-law), Ashley and I went for my 19 week ultrasound. Unfortunately, my mom wasn't feeling well enough to go also, but I made sure to stop by her house right after to show her the newest pictures and share the news.

This was the big ultrasound, not only to confirm the sex, but to make sure the baby is progressing as it should. It was really a neat experience. The technician zoomed in on the hands, feet, skull, brain, spine, heart, kidneys, stomach and of course private parts. The technician took tons of measurements, checked the blood flow and let us hear the heartbeat. Technology is definitely amazing. We got to see the baby sucking it's hand and squirming like a little fish as always.

After the ultrasound was done, the same doctor from the 12 week appointment came in to talk to me and do a quick scan for herself. She reported that everything looked great and measured as it should. The little monkey weighed in at 10 ounces. She also confirmed that her guess of a boy was wrong, and it is definitely a little girl (the 16 week ultrasound technician was correct)!

What a big relief to know that everything is fine and the baby is healthy!

Here is the newest picture of monkey girl. It's a profile view of her face.
