It's A Miracle!

March 19, 2010

So here is the explanation of the miracle... (sorry if this is wordy)

Being that I am an impatient person, I contacted my doctor in February as to why I wasn't pregnant yet (we had been trying for 3 months). She explained that you need to "try" for a year before they will even consider any possible fertility issues. However, she agreed to run a few blood tests on me due to the fact that I have short cycles (which is typically a sign of low progesterone) and that I had a previous miscarriage.

A few days after the blood tests, the doctor called me with the results. The bad news was that my progesterone was extremely low, to the point I probably wasn't ovulating. The good news, there was an easy fix, progesterone supplements. She explained to me that it wouldn't be possible to get pregnant this cycle, but prescribed me the progesterone supplements to begin immediately, which would hopefully solve the problem. As well as hopefully make the next pregnancy viable, being that low progesterone could have been the cause of the previous miscarriage.

Darren & I decided we should book a trip to Jamaica. We figured this would probably be our last chance to get away for awhile. So March 17th rolls around, the day I expected my period... nothing (mind you I am always on time). I chalked it up to the progesterone was working and my cycles were lengthening as they should. On March 19th, still nothing and even tho the doctor said no way, something told me I was pregnant, so I went to the store to buy a few tests. Sure enough, the test showed POSITIVE!

I immediately called Darren at work and told him. He was shocked, but excited. Then I called the doctor, told her the news and asked, "how"? Her answer to me, "I don't know and I don't care, you are pregnant and that is what you wanted!" Lesson learned, blood tests are only suggestive, not diagnostic.

The calculated due date is November 29th. Darren & I met on Novemeber 25th, got married on November 26th, wouldn't that be something if the baby came on Novemeber 27th? Novemeber is our month!
